Borough Landmarks

Grab your phone and capture that perfect Instagram moment at some of the iconic landmarks scattered across Charnwood. In Loughborough, no visit is complete without seeing the Sock Man in the Market Place with the elegant Town Hall in the background. The Carillon Tower in nearby Queen's Park can be seen for miles around and is instantly recognisable. Show anyone from Charnwood a photo of Old John in Bradgate park and they will immediately identify this Victorian hunting folly, look out for it as you approach the park.

The views across Charnwood from the top of Beacon Hill are stunning and reveal the amazing landscapes and remarkable geology containing some of the oldest rocks and fossils in England, an area aspiring to become the next UNESCO Global Geopark. Talking about rocks, do not miss the extraordinary Morley Quarry near Shepshed where the exposed rock face reveals Precambrian and Triassic rocks.
