Charnwood completely surprised me. I came for a short visit and ended up spending hours walking through Charnwood Forest — it's peaceful, dramatic and feels properly unspoilt. There's a real sense of history here, but it doesn't feel stuck in the past.
Charnwood - A fascinating destination promising a non-stop voyage of discovery from ancient origins to future potential. A centre for discovery, knowledge and enterprise that is shaping tomorrow's world.
I stayed in Loughborough and loved the mix of independent shops, cafés and green space. It's lively without being overwhelming, and everything feels easy to get to. You get the energy of a university town but with a friendly, local atmosphere.
I've visited a lot of places across England, and Charnwood has a charm that's hard to pin down. The villages are picturesque, the walking routes are fantastic, and there's a quiet confidence about the area that makes you want to come back.
What stood out to me about Charnwood was the balance. You can explore open countryside in the morning and be in a bustling town centre by the afternoon. It feels well cared for, welcoming and full of character.
