Easter Bunny Trail 2023

Venue: Loughborough Town Centre

Looking for something Egg-Cellent to do this Easter? Help us find the Love Loughborough Bunnies on our Egg-Citing Bunny Trail!

The Love Loughborough Bunnies are on the loose over the Easter Holidays and they need rounding up!

Love Loughborough BID has created an Easter Bunny Hunt around Loughborough town centre to encourage visitors to shop local this Easter and give the kids something egg-citing to do. Nearly 30 local businesses are participating in the trail, each hiding their own special named Bunny within their premises for visitors to find.

Just match 12 Bunnies names to their allocated shop and then complete a simple form for the chance to win one of many eggs-tra special Love Loughborough shopping vouchers!

The Bunny Trail will run over the Easter holidays from Friday 31stMarch- Sunday 16th April inclusive. All completed forms will need to be posted in the Love Loughborough post box that will be situated in New Look (in Carillon Court) to be entered into the prize draw to win some Love Loughborough shopping vouchers.

Lisa Brown, BID Manager said 'Both adults and children can enjoy hunting for our escaped bunnies and it encourages visitors to go in to shops that they maybe wouldn't ordinarily visit. We have some great independent shops in Loughborough and this trail helps people to shop local on our high street'

Lez Cope Newman, BID Chairman stated, 'The businesses have been really keen to get involved and they can't wait to start welcoming people to find the Bunnies"

Participating stores are varied and include places to eat and drink as well as retail businesses. A full list of the participating 'Bunny' businesses will be available on our website. Entry forms can then be collected from the participating shops and will also be downloadable from our website.

Fri, 03rd Nov 2023 - Sat, 27th Jan 2024

About Ama Dogbe
Ama Dogbe is a British-Ghanaian artist who builds video games, digital animations and audio-visual installations exploring autobiographical and utopian themes. Her recent work uses interactive virtual world-building as a tool to examine family, identity and the internet. She has created digital forests, sky mazes, and gleaming platforms that audiences can explore online. Her processes often use self-taught and collaborative techniques to produce experimental and unconventional outcomes. Ama has been commissioned by Spike Island, Bristol (2023) and tiata fahodzi, Watford (2022). She has also exhibited with Fermynwoods Contemporary Art (2022), East Bristol Contemporary (2022) and Attenborough Arts Centre, Leicester (2021).

About 'Alien Invasion'
Ama Dogbe presents a new version of Alien Invasion, an interactive web-based game. In Alien Invasion, figures descend upon a garden-like world, and players follow paths to uncover talismans, relics and icons. The game has been created in part through photogrammetry, the process of creating 3D digital outcomes from photographs. Using physical and digital repetition, Ama has created a web of symbols that are both strange and familiar. The game is accompanied by a soundtrack of electronic, ambient and contemporary hip-hop by musician Louis Jack. The video game will be available to play via the Modern Painters, New Decorators website. The project is funded by Arts Council England.

About Katie Schwab
Katie Schwab is a maker who works with installation, textiles, print and video to explore histories of craft, design and education. Her interests focus on domestic spaces, civic architecture and play environments. Katie's projects are often hands-on, combining community workshops, oral history interviews, archive visits and skills-sharing. Katie lives and works in London.

About 'Archive Fever'
'Hosiery Abstracts' is the final exhibition in the 'Archive Fever' programme, a project about collecting and collections hosted by Modern Painters, New Decorators, funded by Arts Council England and produced in partnership with Leicestershire Museums Collection. Artists Joanne Masding, Jagjit Kaur, Dan Cowlam, and Katie Schwab have made new artwork in response to the historical items held in the Leicestershire Museums Collection.

About 'Hosiery Abstracts'
For this project, Katie immersed herself in local histories of machine knitting, visiting the Leicestershire Collection, Charnwood Museum and the Framework Knitters Museum. Katie examined knitted samples, garments and technical drawings to learn more about the wool trade, hosiery production and the knitting industry. Katie also attended a machine knitting course, learning techniques that have inspired new knitted artworks and a wall-based work. Katie has a family connection to the Leicestershire textiles industry. Her German Jewish great-grandfather emigrated to Leicester during WWII, where he worked for Midland Hosiery Mills Ltd, a present-day sock manufacturer.

LU Arts at Loughborough University has also commissioned Katie to produce a new public artwork on campus. As part of the Handicrafts Residency, Katie has been meeting makers and visiting local museums to look at different tools and techniques of production, from 19th-century Framework Knitting to modern punchcard-operated machines. Her commission will bring these interests together in a knitted wall-based artwork produced collaboratively with Loughborough University textiles students.
